Welcome to the Bujinkan Kouryuu Dojo, dedicated to the teachings of Hatsumi Sensei, Soke of the Bujinkan.
The Kouryuu Dojo has been in existence since 1988 and its instructor Norman Smithers Shihan has been involved in martial arts for 30 years starting with Feng Sau Kung Fu in 1982 graduating to Bujinkan that same year. His warrior name 'Kouryuu' was given to him by Soke Hatsumi and means 'Ferocious Dragon', Nagato Sensei also gave him an affectionate name of "Oni Jiji" which means "Demon Grandad", his experience also includes the French Foreign Legion and 9 years British Army, he was in the shooting teams of both armies and regularly teaches all over Europe and the USA.
Our training, like Hatsumi Sensei's, is relaxed and friendly but with one stipulation, 'if you can't laugh, you can't come !
The Dojo is located in the centre of Huddersfield, 5 minutes walk from the University, in the Active Bodies Centre, Chapel Street, off Chapel Hill.

Women's Self Protection Course
6 Week WASP(womens awareness & self protection)course covering aspects of self protection for women, this course has been ratified by the police in Huddersfield and hopefully they will attend the last course evening to answer any questions.
Course costs £50 for the 6 weeks.
